About the Artist

Samir Davis-Arrington is a multidisciplinary artist dedicated to dance/choreography as well as costume design. As a recent dance major graduate of University of South Florida he has trained extensively in contemporary and ballet styles. In addition to movement knowledge, his research pertains to dance traditions and costumes within the African diaspora, specifically the African American dance experience. Samir creates costumes that reflect cultural history and knowledge made to dance in and perform on stage and film. Samir has also trained and performed with the Philadelphia Dance Company, Philadanco, and Tampa City Ballet building upon his knowledge of Afro-diasporic dance and contemporary ballet. He has performed in both collegiate and professional venues and continues to create works inspired by the world around him and his own experiences.
